My goal is not to sell an insurance policy, but rather provide extensive information and advice to help my customers make the best possible choice for them and their family.

Taking that extra step as their agent allows my customers to feel very satisfied with the insurance coverages. I want my customers to feel good about their choices, because it’s the right choice for them.

As an independent agent, having access to multiple insurance companies allows me to focus on providing complete and correct insurance security for all my customers.

I want my customers to feel supported by me as their insurance agent and enjoy doing business with the McIlrath Agency. After all, we’re part of the Pittsburgh community too.

There is a lot to know about auto insurance in order to fully understand what you're paying for. Auto insurance includes three broad coverage categories designed to protect you from financial loss if you have an accident:

  • Property coverage pays for damage to or theft of your car.
  • Liability coverage pays for your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage.
  • Medical coverage pays for the cost of treating injuries, rehabilitation and sometimes lost wages and funeral expenses.

Motorcycle insurance covers both motorcycles and scooters. Coverage can include property, liability, passenger, and medical.

Whether you have an RV, Motor Home, Snowmobiles or 5th wheel, RV Insurance covers your recreational vehicle and its contents while on the road.

Most home insurance coverage will cover any boats that have an outboard of 25 H.P. or less. This includes small boats and canoes. Larger and faster boats and jet skis need additional coverage and a separate watercraft policy. The type of watercraft as well as the value will play a factor in the cost of insurance.

Home and Property insurance covers a policyholder’s physical residence as well as its contents against damage or loss from fire, theft, and vandalism. Also included are weather related floods, hurricane, hail and lightening.

Homeowners insurance is basically designed to bring your home and possessions back to the same condition they were in before a loss occurred. Home and Property insurance covers a policyholder’s physical residence as well as its contents against damage or loss from fire, theft, vandalism as well as weather related floods, hurricane, hail and lighting. Liability coverage also takes care of the individual’s responsibility for any injuries people might suffer while on the property covered by the policy.

We understans that as the owner of a condominium unit, your insurance needs are different from other homeowners. Chances are your association purchased a master policy to cover common areas like the exterior building and walkways. But you are responsible for insuring your individual, personal interests within your unit. You need both personal property and liability insurance.

While your landlord has homeowners insurance coverage for the physical dwelling, as a renter, you need insurance to cover your personal property, such as clothing, furniture or electronic equipment, in the event of loss from fire or theft or other perils.

Renter's insurance will also protect you if you are responsible for bodily injury or property damage to others, for example, if a visitor trips and falls on your property and gets hurt.

Many types of specialty insurance are available to cover specific needs. Some of these include: an Umbrella policy, Valuable Items, Flood Insurance, Mine Subsidence, and a Wedding Insurance Policy.

Umbrella Insurance is not just for the wealthy. With the common occurrence of lawsuits, it is a must for every home, auto and watercraft owner. As many Americans are finding out, you don't have to be a millionaire to be sued like one. That is why we offer Umbrella Policies to supplement the basic liability coverage provided by your auto, home and boat policies.

Valuable Items Insurance supplements coverage for possessions of higher monetary value, such as a diamond engagement ring, your grandfather's pocket watch, artwork, or a valuable collection. While most homeowners policies have limits on the dollar amount and type of loss that can be recovered, Valuable Item insurance will provide the protection you need for your most valuable possessions in the event of loss through theft, accident or natural disaster.

Flood Insurance is a very necessary coverage for those who live in flood prone areas, and even for those in low-to-moderate risk areas. However, it is important to understand that while homeowners insurance is designed to bring your home and its contents back to the same condition it was in before a loss, flood insurance is only meant to get you back on your feet. To understand more about how this coverage operates and what it covers, give us a call.

Any homeowner whose property sits on top of an abandoned mine should have Mine Subsidence Insurance. Adjacent properties are also at risk for both mine subsidence and mine water breakouts, which are the sudden release of water from flooded underground mines.

The most common and damaging subsidence occurs in areas above underground mining. Here, voids opened during mining slowly or suddenly collapse. This can damage buildings, roads and utilities above. Your home can be damaged or ruined by this type of subsidence or it can be condemned - even if it is not damaged.

A Wedding Protection Plan is an insurance policy that offers finacial protection if certain unfortunate, unforeseen events should occur during the period leading up to and including the wedding day.

Some of the things a policy might cover are:

  • Weather - If the celebration has to be postponed due to rain or other bad weather
  • Illness or Injury - If essential people get sick or injured and cause the wedding to be postponed
  • A Missing Officiant - if your minister, justice of the peace, rabbi or other celebrant should be a no-show, you will recoup dome costs
  • Missing Vendors - If your caterer, florist, photographer, or other key vendor is missing in action, you'll recover some costs and possible the cost of rescheduling the whole thing
  • Your Location - If your ceremony and reception sites don't already carry their own insurance, your wedding insurance policy can cover damage to the site, fire, electrical or mechanical problems, or going out of business that causes you to lose money or have to reschedule
